Jacob's Well Natural Area is an 81-acre park in Wimberley featuring the headwaters of Cypress Creek. The area offers hiking trails, interpretive gardens, and a labyrinth for visitors to explore.
Established in 2010, Jacob's Well Natural Area protects an environmentally sensitive 81-acre expanse in the Texas Hill Country. The property centers around an artesian spring that serves as the headwaters for Cypress Creek, which flows downstream through Blue Hole Regional Park. Visitors can explore the grounds via hiking trails, discover the labyrinth and sundial, or observe local wildlife in the interpretive gardens. The park operates as a day-use facility focused on preserving the natural landscape.
Swimming is currently not permitted due to abnormally low water levels and spring flow. A reservation system exists for swimming when conditions allow, but it has been closed since June 2022 to protect water quality and downstream ecosystems.
The trail to the well is not accessible due to stairs and natural rock surfaces. However, when staff are available, they can transport visitors to the well using a UTV. Call ahead if you need assistance.
Yes, there is designated parking for campers and RVs. However, the area is a day-use facility only, and no overnight parking or camping is permitted. It is recommended to call ahead if visiting with a large vehicle.
